The Ontario Government has announced that effective January 1, 2020, the province’s Small Claims Court’s monetary limited will increase from $25,000.00 to $35,000.00.  This exciting development affords more civil litigants a less time consuming and economical option to resolve their disputes.  A litigant in small claims court may be represented by a paralegal or law student or choose to represent themselves in a level of court often referred to as “the people’s court”.  This affords them the option of seeking legal guidance and advice that will help them achieve their goals without the fear of receiving a legal bill that outweighs the amount of damages being sought.
