What is Elder Abuse?

by | Nov 24, 2022 | Civil Litigation

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Elder Abuse is defined as:

“A single, or repeated act, or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust which causes harm or distress to an older person.”

Seniors are particularly vulnerable to physical emotional and financial abuse as they age and become more dependent on friends and family for their day to day activities.  Out of necessity they may open themselves up to situations where they could suffer exploitation.  Our lawyers at FDT Law can assist with legal advice to protect a senior in any personal care of financial situation to ensure they are protected from such abuse and our litigators can assist after the fact to try and recoup losses suffered from such abuse.

If you have a concern regarding an older adult’s safety or well-being our team of experienced lawyers can help. Contact us online for a free consultation or call 705-526-1471 to speak directly to one of our lawyers.
