Patrick Sloan

Patrick Sloan

Patrick is a partner at FDT Law, with a practice focused on Personal Injury and various other types of litigation. Called to the Bar in 2009, he holds law and arts degrees from Aberdeen and Nipissing Universities, along with a Certificate in Mediation and Dispute Resolution from York University. Patrick has represented clients before the Superior Court of Justice, the Licence Appeals Tribunal, and the Social Security Tribunal. Known for his practical approach and clear communication, he supports clients through complex claims.

Lisa D. Belcourt

Lisa D. Belcourt

Lisa is a partner at FDT Law with extensive experience in Personal Injury, Estate Litigation, and Real Estate Litigation. Called to the Bar in 1999, she has appeared at all levels of Ontario Courts and before numerous administrative tribunals. Lisa provides both plaintiff and defence representation, with a particular focus on accident benefit claims involving spinal cord and brain injuries. She is also actively involved in legal education and the community, serving on the Civil Rules Review Working Group, the Advocates’ Society, and the board of the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre.

Michael D. LaPlante

Michael D. LaPlante

Michael is a partner at FDT Law and a Certified Specialist in Civil Litigation by the Law Society of Upper Canada. He has over two decades of experience in Personal Injury Litigation, having previously represented insurers in Vancouver and Toronto before exclusively advocating for injury victims since 2002. Michael is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, the Advocate Society, the Canadian and Ontario Bar Associations, and the Simcoe County Law Association and in addition is an active supporter of the firm’s pro bono clinic with the Canadian Paraplegic Association.

Mark Baker

Mark is a partner at FDT Law with decades of experience in Litigation, Insurance Law while now primarily practicing Real Estate Law, Wills, and Estates. Called to the Bar in 1987, he spent 17 years at a Toronto litigation firm before joining Ferguson Barristers in 2004 and becoming a partner in 2007. Mark has handled numerous trials and arbitrations and continues to represent clients in complex legal matters. Mark is also deeply involved in community service, having supported organizations like Community Reach North Simcoe, Independent Living Simcoe, and the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre, alongside his ongoing pro bono work with the Canadian Paraplegic Association.

Amanda M. Swarbreck

Amanda is an associate lawyer at FDT Law, practicing out of the Innisfil office. Her practice focuses on Real Estate Law and Estate Planning, where she provides practical, client-centred legal guidance. Amanda graduated with a Juris Doctor from Western University and was called to the Bar in 2015. She is proud to be serving clients close to her hometown of Alliston, offering thoughtful, knowledgeable legal support in key areas of family and property planning.

William P. Taws

William is a Certified Specialist in Estates and Trusts Law and has practised in Midland since 1982. His work spans Wills and Estates, Estate Planning, Real Estate, and Corporate/Commercial law.
